Everyone loves firing up their grill and cooking a delicious meal for friends and family. However, it can be easy to forget how important basic maintenance is for the performance of a gas grill. To make the most out of grilling season, it’s essential that a few grill maintenance tips are followed including checking for leaks, properly covering the grill and regularly cleaning key components.
Check for Leaks: You should get in the habit of checking for propane leaks on a regular basis, ideally once a month. The easiest way to perform this important grill maintenance safety task is to run some soapy water along the gas line and connections while the propane is on. If you notice any bubbles forming along the line, that’s a clear indication there’s a leak and the line needs to be replaced or the connection will have to be tightened.
Cover Your Grill: Another important tip is to keep the grill fully covered when not in use. A covered grill can help prevent wind, water, dust and other elements from entering the grill and causing rust or premature wear on components. Invest in a good cover and keep your grill in top shape, season after season.
Clean Regularly: Even though you might be excited to eat, it’s extremely important to take the time to properly clean the grill after each and every use. It only takes a minute for a scraper to remove any leftover food and regular cleaning will help prevent any unwanted buildup. In addition, a clean grill will make your next meal taste better.
