Ottawa is known for harsh winters and for many months we’re unable to enjoy the great outdoors (without being bundled in layers of winter clothing!). One of the best things about summer is being able to enjoy the outdoors late into the evening. As the days slowly get shorter and we inch closer and closer to fall—extend your outdoor yard time with one of our outdoor heat options.
The city has established clear by-laws in regard to open fires in residential areas:
Burn permits from the Fire Chief are required before having an open air fire.
Outdoor fireplaces aren’t permitted in urban areas.
Residential and suburban areas are restricted from burning wood or wood products in outdoor chimineas.
Unfortunately, that means collecting fallen tree branches and starting an old fashioned campfire in your backyard isn’t permitted in the city of Ottawa.
Harding The Fireplace offers a number of outdoor heating options that are practical, efficient and legal!
Napoleon offers a number of different options in their Patioflame line. These products use propane (or a natural gas conversion kit) that ensure their ease of use, and safety. With these products, you can have the experience of a backyard campfire without the mess and work of real wood.
Dekko Fire pit
Fire pits that use wood as a fuel source are not permitted in Ottawa, but our legal outdoor concrete fire pits use electronic ignitions and decorative rocks. The Serenade collection by Dekko is hand crafted and manufactured to endure the harsh outdoor elements—ensuring years of warmth!
Harding The Fireplace offers the best fireplaces, BBQ’s, Kamado smokers and outdoor heating options that you won’t be able to get at a big box store.
Harding The Fireplace is an official sponsor of the Ottawa Redblacks.
